Do we have an aviation expert here to provide analysis?

I used to work for a company that made products for boeing, this is when airbus was new. The joke was they'll be making repair parts for airbus before long. They were wrong.

Who is buying the A380?  I see more 787s showing up in airline fleets.  With the exception of the Gulf States (i.e. UAE) I don't see much in the way of users of that monster of an aircraft.  Do A380s do cargo?

Airbus also said the cabin had been optimised to allow up to 80 extra seats "with no compromise on comfort".

They're squeezing more passengers into smaller spaces.

Emirates are by far the largest operator.  There are a few other carriers that have smaller numbers, but it's really a plane that only makes sense for certain routes.  The passenger version has fairly decent cargo capacity, but there is no freighter variant. Airbus did plan one, but then cancelled it since it really didn't make a lot of commercial sense.
