Part of me feels bad for poor ol Spankster. If he was smart he would seek professional help for his weight problem, but he won't. He will treat this as another half-assed DIY project.

But you keep thinking you know more than me about nutrition.

This is feasible as long as not too extreme. In the past some of my cheat days for out of conform and pushed the average daily calorie count for the week to too high a level.

Yes. Anything goes Friday. It didn’t hinder my weight loss since I was cutting calories throughout the week. But ultimately it also wasn’t the “trick” to maintaining  compliance.

It's possible to undo an entire week of dieting with a cheat day.

A pound of fat is 3,500 calories.  So if you eat 3,500 more than your baseline calories, you've just undone the week.

A cheat day is important, I agree.  But it still needs limits.

Okay, I've thoroughly enjoyed mocking you over your past failures, but losing 100 pounds by November is aggressive but possible.  But that means you need to eat 7,000 calories less than your base metaboblism every week, or 1,000 calories Every Single Day.  This is not fake news or junk science, it's math.  I don't know what you've determined your base daily metabolism to be, but if you do the same bullshyt you've done with every other 'diet' attempt, you will fail.  The best thing you could do, is when you start to crave a snack or treat is go for a walk instead of 'giving in to save your diet'

His base metabolism is probably around 4,000 a day.  So he needs to stick to 3,000 calories or less a day to lose weight.  We've been telling him that for a decade.

I didn't even respond to the 100 lbs by November BS because it's completely unrealistic. I agree it's not impossible, but short of him quitting his job and dedicating his life to this goal, becoming a workout specialist or whatever, never going to happen.

20-30 lbs with diet control and daily exercise would be a reasonable goal, particularly as a stepping stone to a longer term vision.
