Still purging down at Adventure HQ!!!

Trash and recycling was this morning, so I brought the big bins in.

I found a box of old payroll records (<2011) and the shredding was on!  Then I had several binders of old divorce documents to go - documentation about our financial life.  One binder was a 4" binder with nothing but tax returns!!!

That was another big shredding project.  That will have to go in the bin next Thursday.  My technique is to throw the shredding into the recycle container FIRST (64 gallons), stir it up and then throwing the heavier paper files on top of it to squish it down.

The recycle container is already 2/3 full and I'm still getting started.

It's amazing how many documents have names and Social Security numbers on them!

Stick to a vanity business Tom, your buffoonery would bankrupt any real business that has to make a profit to survive.

My alarm business served me well for 43 years, It supported me and my family for decades, bought the AHQ building and paid it off.  When I sold it, the profit let me invest in other opportunities.  I still own the AHQ building, free and clear.

If you, as a worthless dot, want to make me feel bad - you have a LONG WAY to go.  Tell us about YOUR investments....

Sounds like you sold your customer list then, not the entire business, if you were able to keep the building.

In the alarm business, and other businesses like it, the value is in the recurring monthly revenue - the service contracts.  The building is mine, and wasn't part of the sale.

Next month will mark 3 years since I retired from the retail alarm business.  What am I going to do next?  I don't know, but there is no sense in keeping old crap I'll never need again.

So you kept all the alarm equipment then?

They took what they wanted, but they left quite a bit behind.  They really wanted the client files, dating back to the 1970s.

Lately, it's been mostly paper getting recycled.  I really didn't need to keep 15,000 bulk mail envelopes from an alarm company that no longer exists.

Stuff like that.

Is that how many customers you had? 15,000? That's impressive.

No, those were for advertising campaigns.  Today, I'm clearing out a trove of old computer magazines.  DOS 5 help files!

Re: Still purging down at Adventure HQ!!!

The 64 gallon recycling container is now packed FULL, (as it has been every week for the last couple of months) with the 64 gallon trash bin filling up.

The upstairs tenant lady recently lost her husband, and she had been purging stuff before she left to visit relatives in June, so my timing is good.

One of my BIG monthly checks arrived today, a couple of days early, so it was good to be there and get it deposited.

In my office, I have a rule. People under federal subpoena get priority on the shredder.

The Clinton effect.  I get it.  I have a ton of vinyl LPs down there.  I wonder what I should do with them?
